The Staten Island Small Business Development Center has had a satellite office in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn for the past 4+ years to further extend our services and help starting and growing businesses achieve their goals. In part of being active members of the Brooklyn community, the SI SBDC is a proud member of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
On Wednesday, October 5th 2016, the head of the Brooklyn Satellite office George Telmany, SBDC Senior Certified Business Advisor, attended the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Membership Meeting and Business Trade Show. George networked with our local resource partners as well as other attending Chamber members. The Brooklyn Chamber Commerce President Carlos Scissura welcomed the room full of members, resources, local representatives, and even the U.S. Representatives Dan Donovan and Jerrold Nadler. Scissura discussed the Chamber’s five year strategic plan and highlighted some of the important upcoming initiatives to be accomplished by the Chamber and the business community. Mayor Bill de Blasio was the event’s keynote speaker, addressing the current state of Brooklyn in regards to education, crime, and economic factors. The 2016 Annual Membership Meeting and Business Trade Show was overall a great success; the SI SBDC looks forward to a productive year positively impacting the local small business community with information and great success.
