Hello, small business community! I hope everyone had a great summer and is getting ready for the cooler weather as fall approaches and the leaves begin to change. Speaking of change, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Michael Anderson, and in August, I was named the new Regional Director here at the Staten Island Small Business Development Center (SI SBDC) at the College of Staten Island.
Before this appointment, I worked at the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce starting in
2018. For nearly three years, I served as the Small Business Resource Network (SBRN) Supervisor. In this role, I managed the Chamber's outreach efforts, which included conducting corridor walks to visit small businesses across the borough several days a week, attending various vendor events, participating in community functions, partnering with external groups, and more. I enjoyed engaging with thousands of businesses annually on Staten Island. I am excited to join the talented and dedicated team here at the SI SBDC, which includes Bonnie Arciero, Joe Bottega, Angela Chuppe, and Joe Muller, to continue supporting small businesses on Staten Island and South Brooklyn as part of New York's 11th Congressional District.
The Staten Island SBDC is always eager to hear from the small business community about the issues they face and how we could help. On that note, we plan to add some new webinars to our 2026 calendar. If you have ideas on possible topics that could benefit the small business community, don't hesitate to get in touch with us and share them. And, of course, if you need any further assistance with your small business, please don't hesitate
to reach out.
To your continued success,
Michael Anderson
Regional Director, Staten Island SBDC
