Staten Island SBDC Client Receives 2019 SBA District Award

Apr 17, 2019

David Fazio of DeVille Auto Collision Inc. wins

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Award

Federal Agency Officials to visit Staten Island on Thursday for Presentation & National Small Business Week Honors

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) New York District Office along with the Small Business Development Center at the College of Staten Island will visit DeVille Auto Collision on Thursday, April 18th at 3:30 p.m.

David Fazio, owner of DeVille Auto Collision, has been named by the federal agency as the Family-owned Small Business of the Year for 2019, an annual award given to a small business that has been passed down from one generation to the next and has been in business at least 15 years.

DeVille Auto Collision, started in 1970 by David’s parents Charles and Joan Fazio, was nominated by the Small Business Development Center at the College of Staten Island, which helped the company access $1.4 million dollars in SBA backed financing to purchase its own building. The Small Business Development Center also nominated the company for its innovative products and services, growth in number of employees and increase in business at its 10,000 square foot Staten Island facility.

“Having come from a family of entrepreneurs myself, I know how hard it can be to keep a family-owned business running,” said Beth Goldberg, Director of SBA’s New York District. “What the Fazio family has done is truly amazing – to grow and expand and include the family in the process – is a unique challenge that deserves to be recognized. We’re honored to celebrate DeVille Auto Collision as SBA’s 2019 Family-owned Small Business.”

Thursday’s business visit will include a tour of the Richmond Terrace facility, a discussion with the business owners about some of the challenges they’ve faced in running their company and a certificate presentation as SBA’s 2019 Family-owned Small Business of the Year.
